rheumatismCondition whose manifestation is bone and joint pain that makes normal mobility. Its causes are sudden temperature changes, as exposure to cold drafts, getting wet when it is hot or sweaty for work or eating hot foods, according to the Dictionary of Mexican Traditional Medicine, UNAM.

Among the Indians, their origin is diverse, but always related to these causes. The Nahua of Puebla says that is typical drunks and people who got wet when they were children while his body was warm. The Otomi of San Pablito is not related to change his wet clothes. In Tepoztlan, Morelos, is due to moisture, and Baja California, for possession of a bad dream. For the Huichol is a punishment from the gods deer hunters who do not yield offerings, and for the people of Tabasco, is due to severe shock.
